Chris’s earliest recollection of climbing a hill, was Easter 1965. He was nineteen months old. He struggled up the hill, breathless, but determined and refusing help from Dad with a single word ‘No’. He consequently climbed every rock he could find on the popular summit of Bradgate Park.
He had a diagnosis of asthma a few months later. This early memory has remained strong throughout his life and has shaped his choices of activity. This early memory has shaped his life. Chris will always encourage friends and colleagues to exercise, within their abilities.
Chris believes his hillwalking activities have mitigated against a life-threatening condition. On March ninth 2013, Emergency Services took Chris to hospital. They diagnosed EGPA, a very serious allergy condition.
Chris is very grateful for the NHS and Emergency Services, ‘I would not be here without them’.
